With this plugin, ONIS 2.6 can connect to PACS workstations to query/retrieve and store images using the DICOM3 network protocol. When connected to a PACS Workstation, you can browse, open, import or export any patient, study, series or image from it, in exactly the same way that you would do from the local database.

In the same way, other PACS workstations can also connect to ONIS 2.6 to query/retreive and store images using the same DICOM3 protocol. ONIS 2.6 with this plugin becomes a fast and robust, fully featured, DICOM server. You can archive and share all of your images generated by different modalities (CT, MR, CR, etc...). The Dicom Server is compatible with all modalities and all manufacturers.

Fully compatible with the DICOM3 network protocol, it supports the following services:

• Query services (C-FIND SCP/SCU)
• Storage services (C-STORE SCP/SCU)
• Retrieve services (C-GET SCP/SCU, C-MOVE SCP/SCU)
• Echo service (C-ECHO SCP)

Multi-threaded, it supports a significant number of simultaneous connections without unduly affecting performance. When loaded, a new page in the preferences panel of ONIS 2.6 will be visible that will let you easily administer the DICOM server.

The DICOM server will use the local database plugin to store, search and transfer images. By using the MSSQL server 2008 database plugin, millions of images can be stored and shared (provided enough disk storage is available).
